Alejandro Quincoces
Alejandro Quincoces has been devoted to drawing and painting since a very young age. For years he combined his artistic training with work in the field of advertising until he decided to dedicate himself fully to painting. He studied Fine Arts at the University of the Basque Country and throughout his career has received more than a hundred awards, among them the BMW Painting Prize, several medals in national competitions, and distinctions at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts of Valdepeñas, as well as the prestigious Lorenzo il Magnifico Prize at the International Biennial of Contemporary Art in Florence.
His painting draws on everyday life and the urban environment: industrial landscapes, cities under construction, highways, factories, and seemingly marginal places. Through photography, television, or direct observation, Quincoces reconstructs fragments of reality, transforming them into scenes filled with atmosphere and emotional resonance.
Underlying his work is the intention to involve the viewer in a recognizable experience, where the image becomes a vehicle for emotion, memory, and reflection. His canvases reveal a constant tension between the ephemeral and the permanent, the intimate and the collective, inviting us to meditate on the passage of time, the transformation of the city, and the human imprint on the contemporary landscape.
His painting is characterized by a sober palette, dominated by greys, ochres, and reduced ranges of color, with which the artist seeks to suggest rather than to show, to fragment rather than to reconstruct. In this process, forms dissolve and reappear, compelling the viewer to mentally recompose reality and to become an active participant in the pictorial experience.
