La línea de Bālta Gallery

Our gallery’s curatorial vision is profoundly eclectic: we seek works that embody a spiritual artistic content, regardless of the style in which they are executed. What matters most to us is that they reflect, in Kandinsky’s words, that which is intrinsic to art itself, rather than what is specific to the artist or to the era in which they were created.

We believe that when a work is true to the essence of art, it frees itself from the need to represent or narrate anything. It becomes a window through which the viewer may gaze, entering a state of timelessness and, as Adorno suggests, losing the sensation of having solid ground beneath their feet. In this way, the artwork opens a door to the unknown a passage toward higher states of consciousness allowing the viewer to step beyond personal circumstances and immerse themselves in a non-phenomenological realm, far removed from the merely apparent world in which we live.

We strive to present works that contain this spiritual dimension. Accordingly, we also encourage our clients and visitors to approach them from a state of personal openness and contemplation, enabling access to the unknown that resides within them. To reach this state, one must set aside subjective circumstances and perceive the work from a level of awareness that allows for an appreciation of what is universal and objective in what is being contemplated.

Mares Interiores, an exhibition by Manolo Oyonarte and Eloy Velázquez, is a perfect embodiment of the artistic vision of Balta Gallery.
